The 11th Annual FOMA Frolic

NOTICE AND INVITATION TO RACE

 

Date:                           Saturday, April 18, 2009

Classes:                      Offshore Multihull, Monohull

Start Time:                 11:00 EST for Multihulls; 11:05 EST for Monohulls

 

Sailing Instructions:

Skipper’s Meeting:    There will not be a skipper’s meeting for this event. The race will not be started if the wind is over 20 knots.  Monitor Channel 72 or call the Clearwater Community Sailing Center at 727-517-7778 with questions.

 

Check In: On starboard tack, hail Committee Boat with Boat Name, Sail Number and Class; get Acknowledgment.

 

Start:  At Clearwater Pass entrance marker “G-1”, start between the marker and Committee Boat.

 

Course:  North to Anclote Key Channel marker “G-1” Located approximately N28o 08.27’  W 82o 52.04 ;  leave mark to port and proceed south to Clearwater Pass entrance marker “G-1”

 

Finish:  Between “G1” and the Committee Boat.

 

Time Limit:  The Race committee will be on station. You MUST finish by 16:30 hours EST for ALL classes.

 

Authority: Race will be governed by the rules of the Commodore of FOMA, which only requires safety and fun, AND the US Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 - 2012.  This is a fun race, protests will not be entertained.        

 

Race Committee:   This event will utilize the Clearwater Community Sailing Center's resources to conduct the race.

 

Handicap Ratings:  The Dunedin Race Ratings will be used wherever possible. In the event there is no WFPHRF Rating Certificate available.

 

Party-After:  Come to the Clearwater Community Sailing Center after the race, and anchor off the south dock.  Please do not tie up the dock. A water taxi service will be available as part of the Entry Fee to transport crews to and from the party.

 

Food and beverages will be available for those who are RSVP to Wayne Rutland, 813-837-5281 or Sid Zipperman, 727-736-9462.  All Entry Forms and food/beverage requests must be received by Thursday, April 16, 2009.  As an alternative, please indicate the number of sailors attending the party on the Entry Form.

 

The cost for food and drinks per person will be $6.00.               

 

Registration:   The entry fee will be $30 for all boats. Complete the 11th Annual FOMA Frolic Entry Form and make checks payable to FOMA. Mail completed entry form and check to Sid Zipperman, 2700 Bayshore Blvd, Unit 9209, Dunedin, FL  34698. Please include your WFPHRF rating, if available, and boat name along with your check. Awards:  Awards will be presented at the next FOMA and/or DBC meeting.  The number of awards will be determined by the number of registered boats in the FOMA Frolic.
