And Charley reports that even pretzels don't help! Charley Joswig's mother passed away last Sunday. March 29-JSI Flea Market. FOMA has a table free for members to sell stuff. The club as for a small donation if you sell stuff to defray the cost of the table. Hours are 8:00 AM until Noon. Sellers can (we believe) get in early (7:00-ish) to setup. Charley Joswig found out the original manufacturer of the FOMA burgees. They still had the pattern in stock. He ordered a bunch, and they will be available at the next meeting for $20-25 each. FOMA Frolic 4/26. Usual course, party after words at Charley's house. Club providing hamburgers, dogs, brats, beer, sodas. Please bring a side dish if you can. NON-racing club members are welcome, but you MUST RSVP so the club knows how much food to buy. Notice of race and other info coming soon. Cruise to 3 Rooker bar on 4/12. St. Pete times ran a recent feature on area restaurants with their own docks. We are looking to cruise to some of them We want recommendations. Ray's annual baseball game-in-lieu-of-a-restaurant meeting. June 17, see the Rays versus the famous Chicago Cubs on their first ever visit to Tropicana Field! See Tampa native Lou Piniella (Ex-Yankee great and ex- Rays Manager) bring the Cubbies, those lovable losers, to the newly redecorated Trop and watch them lose to the vastly improved Rays of 2008! It does NOT appear we can get a box this year, so we are going to all try and sit in Section 312, as close to Row A as possible. The Cubs are very popular and well-watched team, because of their TV connections (they are owned by a TV and newspaper company) and have LOTS of fans around the country. This should be a packed game, so get your tickets early. Note that the Rays have instituted a new policy this year: Tickets purchased within 5 hours of game start cost $2 more per seat. However, they are off-setting some of that by offering free parking if four or more people arrive in the same vehicle. Lastly, FOMA is considering associating with one or more local sailing clubs for purposes of increasing attendance at races and cruises. We are NOT looking to dissolve FOMA, but we need to get more participation in in events. The clubs we are considering working with are all 'blue collar' type clubs, not the St. Pete Yacht club types. the clubs under active consideration at present include: Boca Ciega Yacht Club (BCYC) Dunedin Boat Club (DBC) Hudson Bay Yacht Club (HBYC) We had representatives from BCYC and HBYC at the meeting. They both talked about their clubs. The DBC representative could not make it. In short, BCYC is the biggest of the three, has the most to offer in terms of facilities and functions, but is more expensive. DBC is closer to where most of our members keep their boats, but is smaller and race mostly in-side the barrier islands. HBYC is a lot further away from the center of FOMA activities.
